HR tech firm STORM is the Philippine representative to the Startup World Cup

Manila, Philippines — Leading benefits technology firm STORM Technologies will represent the Philippines in the Startup World Cup 2018 after winning in the regional competition held in the Slingshot ASEAN Startup and Innovation Summit organized by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Startup World Cup is a global conference and competition that brings together top startups, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and world-class tech CEOs. Organized by Fenox Venture Capital, the global competition will be held on May 2018 in San Francisco, California where STORM will compete with 20 other startups from around the world for a chance to win a USD 1 million investment.

“We are proud to represent the Philippines in the global stage. The country now has a competitive startup ecosystem which shows strong potential in attracting global investors,” said Cindy Burdette, STORM Head of Sales and Growth. “This win also gives us a chance to showcase to the world our mission of bringing innovative benefits solutions to create happier, more productive employees.”

STORM competed against 10 other local startups from the financial technology and healthcare space, among others. During the competition, STORM highlighted how technology can be used to create more innovative solutions in the workplace–particularly towards employee benefits delivery and utilization.

STORM helps organizations provide innovative benefits solutions through its patented benefits and incentives platforms. STORM Flex allows employees to convert traditional benefits into points, which they can use to buy items in the firm’s exclusive and curated online marketplace. This allows employees to trade in underutilized company benefits for something more relevant, depending on what they want or need.

On the other hand, STORM Kudos lets companies reward and recognize their employees with points which they can also use in STORM’s marketplace.

“This recognition represents the hard work of all STORMers, and as a Christ-centered firm, we lift up this blessing to God. We are extremely excited to compete and represent the country in Silicon Valley next year,” concluded Burdette.

The HR tech firm now serves over 100,000 employees and services clients from diverse industries including business process outsourcing, insurance, consumer goods and manufacturing, among others. In 2014, STORM received its first round of funding when Xurpas Inc. (PSE:X), the largest publicly-listed consumer technology company in Southeast Asia, invested USD 4.5 million in the firm.
